Our Journey
Helmed by the visionary couple, Anubhav Basak and Sakshi Aswal, the studio began its journey as Anubhav Design Atelier in 2018, amassing an impressive portfolio of over 40 completed projects across seven cities. The Whitespace Architects, an architecture and interior design studio, offers comprehensive services such as planning, exterior façade design, interior design, furniture design and landscape design. Their expertise spans diverse scales, ranging from 100 sqft to 100,000 sqft, encompassing residential, hospitality, commercial, industrial and more. Constantly pushing boundaries with innovative concepts, WA have received two awards “Innovative & Futuristic Architecture & Interior Design Firm of the Year 2023” North India Award under “Premium Residential Projects , Hospitality Projects & Commercial Projects” Category for the year 2023 (GLOBAL EDITION) & “Trendsetter & Creative Architect & Interior Designer of the Year 2023 , Uttar Pradesh ” presented by BeginUp Research Intelligence Global Edition, held at The Taj West End, Bangalore on August 11, 2023. Besides this, WA projects have been also been featured on renowned magazines like Architect’s Dairy, Architect & Interiors India, Home Publication, Interior Lover and more.

Anubhav Basak is the Co-Founder and Principal Architect at The Whitespace Architects, where he leads the design direction and oversees the studio’s architectural and urban projects. His approach is rooted in contextual thinking, material clarity, and a commitment to process-driven design.
He began his professional journey at the Auroville Earth Institute, working on earthen construction techniques and sustainable practices—an experience that shaped his early understanding of climate-responsive design. He later joined the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in New Delhi, contributing to urban development and conservation projects, particularly involving ASI-protected sites.
His subsequent tenure at Anagram Architects exposed him to a broad range of typologies—residential, commercial, mixed-use, and cruise design—allowing him to develop a nuanced understanding of design-to-execution workflows. These cumulative experiences inform his current practice, where he focuses on bridging conceptual clarity with construction feasibility.
Since co-founding The Whitespace Architects in 2018, Anubhav has been instrumental in shaping a studio ethos that values design rigour, contextual sensitivity, and collaboration. He continues to lead projects that respond thoughtfully to site, program, and user, while fostering a culture of experimentation and dialogue within the team.

Sakshi Aswal is the Co-Founder and Principal Architect at The Whitespace Architects, where she brings a grounded, user-focused perspective to the studio’s work in both architecture and interiors. Her practice is defined by a belief that spaces should not only be visually coherent but also intuitive and deeply responsive to the lives of those who occupy them.
Her architectural journey began during her practical training in Gujarat in 2014, where she developed a strong affinity for earthen architecture and an appreciation for the emotional texture of space. After graduating in 2016, she worked in New Delhi with established firms such as Ashu Paul Associates and SWBI Architects. There, she gained hands-on experience on large-scale projects, sharpening her abilities in project coordination, detailing, and the management of complex architectural systems.
In 2019, she expanded her design experience to Dehradun while working in Edifice Design Studio in Uttarakhand. This chapter allowed her to engage more directly with users and interior environments—deepening her commitment to design that supports both well-being and spatial clarity.
In 2020, Sakshi joined The Whitespace Architects with her partner, Anubhav Basak. Within the firm, she leads the interior design direction and contributes extensively to architectural planning and detail development. Her role spans concept evolution, material selection, and on-site execution, ensuring that each project maintains design integrity from start to finish. She also oversees client communication and vendor collaboration, fostering a studio culture that values empathy, precision, and process.
Through her work, Sakshi continues to shape environments that are refined yet grounded—spaces that quietly serve, inspire, and endure.
