ZOHA CARPETS

‘Segregated spaces knit together.’

An inhouse carpet manufacturing unit located in the carpet city of Bhadohi, the Zoha Carpets are two factory buildings. Great emphasis has been given to overall planning of the building, to allow easy circulation of staff members, workers, buyers as well as easy transportation of goods to and from the site. Small meeting rooms and an administrative area have been placed on every floor to ensure the circulation of workers, designers, and buyers has a separate access to the administration area. Likewise, the entrance for owners, buyers, administrative staff, and designers is separated from that of the workers, vendors, and contractors.

Each and every aspect of the design was developed after an extensive conversation with the client, who specified the need for a space that is both functional, with separate workflows, yet still interconnected. The landscaping design include, loading and unloading area on the site that have been segregated from pedestrian movement, parking, and seating areas, as well as other activities. The exterior has been designed with a minimalistic white façade adorned with exposed brickwork on horizontal elements and vertical fins on the south facing windows to block the direct sunlight. The green roof also delimitates the idea of the production unit to be harmful to the environment.
