‘I want to feel Kerela in my house’

These  were the words of our client. Taking into consideration, we decided to design a kerala style exterior. The Nella Vedu derives its term from malayalam language which means nella-good and vedu – house i.e. good house. Located in the metropolitan city of Lucknow, the house has a completely exposed brick façade with palm trees and terracotta tiled sloping roof over the balcony, which is quite unlikely in its context. The laying of bricks in patterns with various permutations and combinations is quite notable. The bricks for the balcony railing create a jail pattern for enough light and ventilation, while the ones on the façade have some bricks sticking out generating a chequered pattern.
